WWWE Logo Relative

Relative is a state of not being associated with or based upon a standard, rule or norm. In Web documents, relative is used to describe a hyperlink which does not constitute a fully qualified URL. A relative link is one that consists of only the filename and any additional directory path designations. When a relative link is selected, the browser uses the current document's URL to follow relative link's additional filename/path information. To both the user and the browser, the relative link acts the same as a fully qualified URL. Relative links are used to jump to other local resources and to reduce the size of a HTML document.
